Acologix is an emerging biopharmaceutical company focused on the identification, development and commercialization of revolutionary therapies for the treatment of osteo-renal diseases, including the ones related to hard tissues such as bone, cartilage and teeth, as well as the kidney and associated organs. One reason the Company is focused on the osteo-renal field is that hard tissues (“osteo”) and kidneys (“renal”) are interdependent in terms of regulating mineral metabolism such as calcium and phosphorus. These organs also cooperate to regulate several hormones that regulate key metabolic activities in bone, kidney and other tissues, for example, vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. By studying these two organs simultaneously, the Company can be more efficient in identifying fundamental mechanisms and therapeutic approaches for disorders involving bone and kidney.

The company name “Acologix” was derived from an old Greek word, acology, which means the science of remedies.
