Aki Watanabe Joins Acologix’s Board of Directors

Emeryville, CA-August 2, 2004 —Acologix, Inc., a privately held biopharmaceutical company, today announced the addition of a key member to its team. Mr. Aki Watanabe has joined Acologix's Board of Directors. "Mr. Watanabe’s broad experience in mergers and acquisitions, financial management, operations, accounting, auditing, and all other business aspects that build a successful company will help accelerate our growth. Our board now has seven members whose expertise covers broad aspects of a biotechnology company operation that will have this growth occur." said Mr. Yoshi Kumagai, President and CEO of Acologix.

Mr. Watanabe was a partner of KPMG LLP New York office from 1990 to 1994. From 1994 to 2002, he was a managing partner of KPMG Corporate Finance. Furthermore, he is a certified public accountant in both Japan and the State of Colorado. He is also the author of “Mergers and Acquisition Handbook” and “M&A global practice” and an invited professor of Kobe University MBA School teaching M&A.

Aki Watanabe currently serves as a managing partner of GCA Corporation, one of a leading M&A advisory firms.
